When it comes to counseling and psychology, the first name that usually comes to mind is Sigmund Freud. A name you might not hear as often, but just as influential, is Carl Rogers. Rogers believed that when a counselor shows real empathy, genuineness, and a non-judgmental attitude, it creates the kind of space where people can connect with their own inner wisdom.
That idea really resonates with me. I love being present with clients and creating a space where they feel truly heard and understood. For some people, simply having that steady, supportive relationship is enough to start unlocking things and moving forward. I see this approach as reflecting the very nature of God, who is the "Father of compassion," who meets us with care and empathy and invites us to share that compassion with others. Along with creating a person-centered space, I like to introduce practical self-care and lifestyle tools to use during the other 167 hours of your week outside of our sessions. I have experience and enjoy working with people who are navigating anxiety, stress, burnout, panic, attachment issues, grief, life transitions, and interpersonal relationship challenges, including those experienced in marriage and families.
Outside of work I love staying active - especially playing basketball, getting outside, eating great food, listening to good music, and enjoying slow evenings with my wife. And when I’m feeling a little more extroverted, I love spending time with friends and family too!!!
Counselor Experience:
I graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s in finance in 2012. After 10 years of a variety of different work experiences, I returned to school and earned a master’s in clinical mental health counseling at UCF.
